Opponent is in the turtle position.

1. With the close side hand, reach under the opponent’s close-side armpit and grab onto their close side wrist.

*

2. Keeping heavy on the close side shoulder of the opponent, block their movement at their close side ankle with your far side hand as you circle stomach-down on your toes towards the opponent’s head and then switch your base so that you are facing the other way that you began.

3. Grab the opponent’s wrist with both hands as you draw their wrist tight up along their back towards their head and finish.

**

*Opponent anticipates and grabs onto their same side inner thigh to defend. Step your close side leg over their back, keeping your knee up against their far side back and sit back for the armbar

**A straight armbar can be substituted if the opponent resists, as you are in the switched base position by stretching the arm across your torso.

1. With the other arm, reach under the tricep of the opponent’s controlled arm.

2. Arm drag that opponent’s arm by pulling it towards your opposite side.

3. As the opponent is off balance, shoot to the side of the arm you dragged for a single leg.

4. Don’t drop to your knees. Clench your thighs very tight together to keep the opponent’s leg in between yours. At the bend on the under-side of the opponent’s knee, make sure you have a tight gable grip digging into it. Make sure your head is up and looking into the side of the ribs of the opponent, tight into it, driving forward.

5. Suddenly pull backwards and just as suddenly shoot forward again as both your arms now reach for the opponent’s opposite leg and pull it towards you as you drive forward to finish. If the opponent’s opposite leg doesn’t follow as you pull backwards and is out of reach, spin towards your opponent, drive forward and drop down to finish.

1. Establish same-side wrist control. With your other arm, reach under the controlled opponent’s arm’s triceps and use both your arms to pull that arm diagonally across your chest.

2. As you swivel your head towards the opposite side of the arm being controlled, let go of the tricep and use that newly freed hand to push the opponent’s head down and out of the way. Unlock your legs and swing your same side leg as the arm that has wrist control and wrap it over your opponent’s face with the momentum generated by the other leg as it pushes off the opponent’s side and raised to high guard position.

3. Lock both your legs (try bringing your heels towards your hamstrings). Clench your thighs together to secure the opponent’s arm. Elevate your hips to finish.

You are in the opponent’s guard. This is no Gi.

1. Control the opponent by putting both hands on the area between the shoulder and the chest. Grab so that the thumbs are in the armpits and the four fingers are over the traps. Push your arms and posture up.

2. Stick one knee into the opponent’s butt and the other one to the side so that your legs make a 90 degree angle. Continue to posture up.

3. Pull your arms back, driving your elbows into the insides of the opponent’s thighs, keeping your elbows tight and push off the opponent’s hips with your hands. As your knee position and elbow pressure creates just enough space, glue your wrists to the inside of the opponent’s thighs at the created space and roll your hands under both opponent’s legs and prop both legs on your shoulders.

4. Use one arm to grab the opponent’s opposite side trap and touch that arm’s elbow to the mat next to the opponent’s neck so that your forearm creates pressure on the opponent’s throat.

5. Circle off to the side with the arm that is on the opponent’s throat and then posture up, shrugging the opponent’s legs off you as you slip into side control.

1. With the leg closer to the opponent, step over the opponent’s closest leg.

2. Using your instep, hook the opponent’s leg and now extend your leg to de-base the opponent’s leg.

3. As the opponent leans toward you to regain more shoulder pressure, push your opponent off you (your hip arm moves under the opponent’s ribs closer to that arm and throat arm continues to pressure and push)as you roll with him to sweep. If the opponent sits back to regain balance, return to guard.

3. Wrap the hand that you use to push the head down, over to head lock the opponent’s head while your other hand now pushes the opponent’s bicep over closer to your other hand, feeding the tricep to that hand. Grab your head-lock hand’s wrist with your other hand and now drop down on your knees as you back up to drag the opponent down.

4. Let go of your head-lock hand’s wrist and use this newly freed hand to reach to the opponent’s far-side ankle and pull with that hand as you drive forward to roll your opponent over.
